Itinerary

Meet and greet at 7:30 am in Kampala. From there, drive west, with a stopover at the Equator for photos, through volcanic formations of the Western Rift Valley towards Queen Elizabeth National Park. The descent reveals a stunning panorama of Lakes George and Edward amidst game-filled plains. In the evening, proceed for a unique 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel and into Lake Edward. The trip passes through possibly the highest hippo concentration in Africa and many mammals may be seen drinking at the water’s edge. The cruise offers an excellent platform for photography and game viewing. The bird life is colorful and abundant. For dinner and an overnight stay, return to Mweya Safari Lodge, beautifully located on a bluff overlooking the Kazinga Channel and Lake Edward.
This day will include two game drives, offering the chance to view Queen Elizabeth National Park’s diverse eco-systems of grassy plains, tropical forest, rivers, swamps, lakes and volcanic craters, home to an incredible abundance of wildlife. Game drives in this park, with the massive Rwenzori Mountains as a backdrop, provide an excellent opportunity to see lion, leopard, giant forest hog, African buffalo, elephants, defassa waterbuck, Uganda kob, topi and bushbuck. Combined with the boat trip up the Kazinga Channel, these two game drives are memorable methods of discovering a vast array of wildlife. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Mweya Safari Lodge.
Early morning departure to Maramagambo Forest, visitors can climb through tropical forest and catch a glimpse of a variety of primates, including chimpanzee. Visit the bat caves and the “Blue Lake”. Drive onwards to Kampala, with a stopover in Mbarara for lunch, arriving early evening. We recommend adding extra nights for activities such as viewing primates in Kyambura Gorge, tree-climbing lions in Ishasha, visiting the Maramagambo Forest, and/or bird watching.
