Overview
One of the most popular routes to Mount Kilimanjaro’s peak is the Marangu Route. Marangu (or the “Coca-Cola Route”), is the oldest route on Mount Kilimanjaro. It is the only route where you sleep in huts with bunk beds and mattresses. Your ascent begins at Marangu Gate on the southeast side of the mountain. You will then ascend to Uhuru Peak and later descend back to Marangu. This route is typically completed in 6 days, allowing for good acclimatization.

Itinerary
Our representative will meet you at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and direct you to board your awaiting vehicle.
You will immediately begin your safari after meeting your driver guide and receiving a briefing on it. You will drive to the renowned Masai Mara National Reserve. You will stop along the way to use the restroom and to see sights like the Great Rift Valley Viewing Point. You'll discover more about the community's inhabitants and their economic pursuits.
You'll get to the lodge in time for lunch. You will go on an afternoon game drive at the park after lunch and some leisure time at the lodge. An exhilarating, spectacular, and exciting experience is a game drive in the Mara.
If you're lucky, you might be able to see the Big Five as well as other Mara animals.
The wildebeest migration and the predators that follow it will be a major draw if you visit during the migration season. After that, you'll head back to the lodge for dinner and to spend the night.
With morning and afternoon game drives, you will spend the entire day in the Mara on this day. You'll spend the entire day at the park observing the migrations if you are there during the migration season. The wildebeest migrations, one of the greatest displays on earth, will be presented to you from front-row seats.
The wildebeest migration, which has been dubbed a natural wonder, is a breathtaking spectacle that everyone should see at least once in their lifetime. In quest of lush pastures, wildebeest migrate from the Serengeti to the Masai Mara. They must cross the Mara River, which is home to many crocodiles, making the journey hazardous.
Hundreds of wildebeests drown while crossing the river, and the crocodile feeds on their remains for months. Those that make it to the other side are also unlucky since predators hunt and feed on the weak.
It is a prime example of the adage "survival of the fittest" in the wild.
After breakfast at the lodge, you'll travel back to Nairobi where you'll arrive in the early afternoon.
Before returning to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight, you can participate in optional activities in Nairobi if there is time and depending on the timing of your flight. You can also be dropped off at your Nairobi lodging as an alternative.
Alpine Desert
Ascending, we now pass the last watering point, walking onto the saddle of Kilimanjaro between the
peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi. Vegetation begins with upper heath land but then disappears into
moonscape". Dinner, rest, and prepare for summit climb.
Alpine Desert
Very early in the morning (midnight to 2am), commence the climb to the summit on steep and heavy
scree or snow up to Gilman's point located on the crater rim at 18640 ft/ 5861 m (4-7 hours). Continuing,
we now ascend to Uhuru Peak, which is the highest point in Africa: 19340 ft/ 5895 m (1-2 hours).
Unbelievable views at every turn. Get your picture taken at the summit to show your friends. From here,
we now descend, stopping for lunch and a rest at Kibo before continuing on to the Horombo
encampment for dinner and a tired but happy overnight (1-2 hours).
This beginning of this climb is done in the dark and requires headlamps or flashlights. It will be very cold
until you start descending, so you will need all of your warm layers. This is, by far, the most difficult part
of the trek with many switchbacks. Pole pole" and an optimistic attitude will get you there.
After breakfast, A steady descent takes us down through moorland to Mandara Hut (2700m / 8858 ft),
the first stopping place at the Marangu route. Continue descending through lovely lush forest on a good
path to the National Park gate at Marangu (1830 m / 6004 ft). At lower elevations, it can be wet and
muddy. Gaiters and trekking poles will help. Shorts and t-shirts will probably be plenty to wear (keep rain
gear and warmer clothing handy).
A vehicle will meet you at Marangu village to drive you back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha.
