Itinerary

You will be picked up early at about 5:30 am the journey takes you along the main Mombasa- Nairobi highway where traditional coastal culture slowly transforms into semi-arid terrain the closer you approach Tsavo East National Park. You will be arriving at the Tsavo East National Park gate, you will begin the safari game drive looking for animals on entry as you slowly and surely drive towards the direction of your accommodation looking for any resident wildlife that calls Tsavo East home. Tsavo is one of the world's largest wildlife sanctuaries and is most noted for its dust-covered red elephant herds, its maneless lions, and a variety of other wild animals including leopards, cheetah, giraffe, buffalo, and other plains game. On arrival, you will be assisted with check-in and enjoy lunch followed by some relaxation. In the afternoon, you'll head out for game viewing in search of more animals and birds, concentrating on maximizing your photo opportunities of any wildlife we may spot.
We’re on safari time and that means we’re up before the sun, ready to catch its bright orange rays bursting upon the plains and the just awakening wildlife. You’ll hop in your vehicle for an early game drive and appreciate the new day all around us expectant with possibilities. Let’s see who we can add to our wildlife checklist! Breakfast will be at your accommodation and then another game drive as we depart the park for the quick trip over to Tsavo West. The colours of this park are different with green rolling hills and magnificent baobab trees. Tsavo West hosts all of Africa’s Big Five including rhinos. You’ll look for these amazing but endangered creatures in the park’s protected rhino sanctuary. Later, you'll enjoy an evening game drive to explore the park's diverse landscapes and wildlife. In the evening, you'll head back to your camp/lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
The following morning at about 6:30 am, you will enjoy some coffee/tea at the lodge before you leave for an early morning game drive in search of animals and big cats that may have come out into the open during the night. After the game drive, you will then return to the lodge for a full breakfast. You will be checking out from the lodge at about 10:00 am. Later, you will drive back to the beach hotel, arriving late in the afternoon. You will be dropped off at your hotel. This marks the end of the safari.
Habitat: Alpine desert. Continue ascending on the east side of Kibo crossing the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo taking 4 to 5 hours to reach Kibo Hut. The remainder of the day is spent resting in preparation for the final ascent, which begins around midnight. Overnight at Kibo Camp.
Habitat: Stone scree and ice-capped summit. You will rise around 23h30, and after some tea and biscuits, you shuffle off into the night. This is where the going really gets tough. The first section of the trail consists of a rocky path to the Hans Meyer Cave (5150m), also a good resting spot. The path then zigzags up to Gillman's point (5 681m), which is located on the crater rim. From Gillman's Point, you will normally encounter snow all the way up to Uhuru peak (5895m), the highest point in Africa. Total exhilaration and satisfaction - you made it. Weather conditions on the summit will determine how long you can spend, taking photographs, before the 3-hour descent back to Kibo hut. After a short rest, you gather all your gear for the ascent and head down to Horombo hut (3 hours) where you will overnight.
After breakfast you continue your descent (6 hours), passing the Mandara hut, down to the Marangu gate. At Marangu gate you sign your name and details in a register. This is also where successful climbers receive their summit certificates. Those climbers who reached Gillman's Point (5685m) are issued with green certificates and those who reached Uhuru Peak (5895m) receive gold certificates. Now from Marangu route, drive to your back to your hotel Moshi.
